About The Tribe

The Tribe is a youth program for young people in the Rosebud area focussed on the holistic development of young people and providing a safe alternative to isolation and risk taking behaviours. The aim of The Tribe is to connect young people with mentors and supporters who can help navigate difficulties and complexities alongside them, connect young people with one another to develop strong peer relationships and supports, and to help young people gain confidence and skills leading to increased independence and improved outcomes.

At the core of The Tribe are relationships that encourage young people to explore important life topics at their own pace, and offer formal and informal support to help young people navigate school, friendships, work, health, behaviours, and futures.

The Tribe is arranged around four pillars drawing on the Circle of Courage framework: belonging (a sense of community for and between young people), independence (knowledge and confidence in a young person’s own capacity), mastery (an increase in practical and social skills, including job-readiness), and generosity (opportunities to give back to the local neighbourhood and consider their own role as local and global citizens).

Objectives

  • Provide safe and welcoming spaces for young people of all backgrounds and circumstances to below.

  • Develop connections between young people and safe and supportive mentor figures.

  • Develop connections between young people and peers to create robust support networks.

  • Connect young people with support services in the local area as required.

  • Give young people ownership of their spaces and a growing sense of capacity in their lives.

  • Offer opportunities to grow in relationship with the local neighbourhood and beyond.
